Apr 03 | ZeroWIN Seminar

In recent years, resource efficiency has become a priority in European policies.

The concept of ‘Zero Waste’, applied through the circular economy and the closing of material cycles, is the way to change the traditional industrial model, in which waste is considered normal, to integrated systems, in which everything has its use.

The EU FP7 project ‘ZeroWIN – Towards Zero Waste in Industrial Networks’ has developed industrial systems based on networks and industrial symbioses, in which waste is considered a resource.

By exchanging by-products, energy, water and materials between sectors, waste from one industry becomes raw material for another.

The ZeroWIN consortium has 30 partners from 11 countries (Austria, Germany, Spain, France, Hungary, Ireland, Poland, Portugal, Romania, United Kingdom and Taiwan) and is coordinated by the Austrian Society for Systems Engineering and Automation (SAT). More details are available at www.zerowin.eu

EFFICIENCY IN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT IN THE CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION INDUSTRY is a dissemination event for the ZeroWIN project.

The main conclusions of the ZeroWIN project will be presented at this event, mainly those arising from the case studies that have focussed on industrial networks. Special emphasis will be placed on the construction and demolition sector, but the efficiency of resource management in other industries will also be addressed.

Who should take part?

Industry representatives (small or large), policy makers, consultants, researchers, waste managers, planners, site owners and others with an interest in resource efficiency, waste reduction, CO2 emissions and water use. Special emphasis on the following sectors: construction and demolition, electronics, automobiles and photovoltaics.
