Environmental sustainability is a permanent concern and a determining instrument to the future of the Municipality of Oliveira de Azeméis.

The main actions are centred in the field of the Environment and Land Use Planning. Structuring projects have been developed namely interventions in the requalification level (La Salette Park, the most relevant urban green area and the Mill Thematic Park, in Ul), as well as the creation of new natural areas associated with sustainable and innovative concepts of landscape based intervention (rehabilitation of the River Caima shores and the Local Protected Landscape Area of the River Antuã).

The public space has included, in the past two years, new concepts of modernity and integration, some connected to renewable sources of energy, using the best techniques for energy efficiency (Cercal Park – Campus for innovation, competitiveness and qualified entrepreneurship, in partnership with the University of Aveiro).
