Torres Vedras City Council’s mission is to ensure that the legal provisions on the environment are applied, to promote the sustainable development of the municipality and to improve the quality of life of its residents.
It is the responsibility of the Torres Vedras Municipality services:
- Managing municipal protected areas.
- Develop and promote environmental education and awareness-raising actions and measures for the population.
- Managing municipal environmental education facilities.
- Preparing applications for projects and awards in the field of the environment, sustainability and energy.
- Monitoring the implementation of the Coastal Zone Management Plan.
- Coordinating the control and monitoring of the municipality’s coastline.
- Ensure the control of water and coastal, atmospheric, noise and soil pollution.
- Carry out specific studies and actions aimed at protecting and defending environmental quality and natural heritage.
- Making the municipal waste management, forestry and green spaces policy viable.
