Inovadomus buys house for habitat laboratory

InovaDomus – Association for the Development of the House of the Future has acquired a house in Ílhavo last week, where it will implement a pilot project for innovative and replicable rehabilitation.

The building will serve as a laboratory for practices and a showcase for innovative trends in the rehabilitation sector, developed in cooperation with the 11 members of InovaDomus and companies or entities that wish to participate in the initiative.

The project will be called “ReabilitaDomus” and will exemplify innovative practices capable of reducing costs and improving the quality, comfort, and sustainability of rehabilitated houses to levels superior to newly constructed ones.

This rehabilitation process also aims to eliminate or reduce demolitions and debris, allow for the phased timing of interventions, and not disrupt the normal use of the house. In an economic context where urban rehabilitation presents an opportunity for the construction sector in Portugal, InovaDomus seeks to promote cooperation among companies in the housing cluster, anticipate market trends, and stimulate innovation.
