The Polytechnic Institute of Guarda hosted a Session on Digital Transformation as Part of the PTCentroDiH Roadshow

On April 8, the Polytechnic Institute of Guarda hosted the Training and Demonstration Session on Digital Transformation, as part of the PTCentroDiH Roadshow.

This initiative, co-organized by Cluster Habitat Sustentável, as a partner in the PTCentroDiH project, brought together companies, entities from the scientific and technological community, and other stakeholders interested in adopting innovative digital solutions. Its main objective was to provide training and demonstrate technologies relevant to digital transformation, focusing on topics such as advanced digital skills training, the application of Artificial Intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, and other digital solutions.

The event was kicked off by Joaquim Manuel Fernandes Brigas, representing IPG, followed by a presentation of the PTCentroDiH project by André Garcia Vieira de Sá, also from IPG.

Following these presentations, Luís Miguel Silva (TCE.PT Cluster) led a Digital Maturity Assessment Exercise, which allowed the participating companies to assess their level of digitalization and identify opportunities for improvement.

The Technology Training Session that followed included several pitches presenting innovative technologies and projects developed by PTCentroDiH partners:

– André Garcia Vieira de Sá (IPG) addressed the topic “Practical application of emerging technologies to protect people, property, and assets,” highlighting the use of technologies such as smart sensors and data analysis to enhance security and risk prevention.

– Hugo Filipe (IPG) presented the topic “RePo-SUDOE: A Transnational Network for the Repurposing of Drugs in the SUDOE Region,” explaining how international cooperation and digital tools contribute to finding new uses for existing medicines.

– Catarina Silva (UC) addressed the topic of “Responsible Artificial Intelligence,” emphasizing the importance of developing AI solutions based on ethical principles such as transparency, fairness, and security.

– Alberto Cardoso and Catarina Silva (UC) presented the topic “Intelligent Analysis of Sensor Data: The SenForFire Case Study,” demonstrating how artificial intelligence can be applied to environmental monitoring and early fire detection.

– Alberto Cardoso (UC) discussed the topic “Predictive Maintenance: ReMAP and KYKLOS 4.0 Case Studies,” highlighting how data analysis enables the anticipation of equipment failures and improves operational efficiency.

– Isabel Ferreira (AIBILI) addressed the topic “From Collection to Intelligence: EVICR.net Eye Platform for the Reuse of Organized European Ophthalmology Data in AI Innovation,” explaining how the structured reuse of clinical data in ophthalmology can drive the development of artificial intelligence solutions applied to the healthcare sector.

– Francisco Silva and Carlos Costa (CTCV) presented the topic “XR-GRIT – Gamified XR Platform for Robotics Instruction and Training,” highlighting the use of extended reality and gamification to make robotics training more interactive and effective.

– Filipe Sá, Nuno Cid, and José Marinho (IPC) addressed the topic “Realities That Transform Business,” demonstrating how technologies such as virtual and augmented reality can drive innovation and transform business processes.

This was followed by the Technology Demonstration Session – “Test Before Invest”- which gave participants the opportunity to see firsthand the technological solutions and prototypes developed by the project partners.

Focusing on areas such as advanced digital skills, artificial intelligence, and virtual and augmented reality, this initiative once again underscored PTCentroDiH’s role in promoting the digital transformation of businesses and other organizations, thereby contributing to increased competitiveness and innovation in the regional economy.
