Award for “Good Environmental and Energy Practices” Published on:

Gyptec participates in the Benchmark A+E project of the Business Association of Portugal.

The Benchmark A+E project promoted by AEP aims to enhance the competitive capacity of companies by valuing and promoting the adoption of environmental management and energy management practices.

Gyptec Ibérica, a company with national capital and part of the Preceram Group, is a participant in this prestigious project as a promoter of sustainable development through the use of eco-efficient practices and technologies that reconcile growth with environmental protection.

Project summary: The use of synthetic gypsum, specifically FGD gypsum – Flue Gas Desulphurisation, sourced from the Sines and Pêgo Thermal Power Plants, is already a significant step toward sustainability; however, Gyptec does not hesitate to seek better practices.

Gyptec’s participation in the AEP project highlights one of the measures implemented by the company in its pursuit of environmental, social, and economic sustainability, namely, the intermodal transport method (rail + road) of raw material from the Sines Thermal Power Plant to Gyptec and the advantages it provides.

To ensure the success of this measure, the existing synergies between Gyptec, EDP, and Takargo Rail of the Mota-Engil Group  and the Instituto Superior Técnico of the Technical University of Lisbon are noteworthy.

Advantages of project implementation: In addition to contributing to the environment by avoiding CO2 emissions and improving air quality, the execution of this project allows for significant fuel savings and clear competitive advantages economically, ultimately contributing to enhancing the sustainability of gypsum boards throughout their life cycle.
