Denmark promoted the 4th ClusterXchange of the EXCELIVING Project

From the 7th to the 9th of November 2023, the 4th ClusterXchange of the European project EXCELIVING took place in Odense (Denmark), organized by the Danish Life Science Cluster and which included a delegation from the Sustainable Habitat Cluster, including the following Portuguese entities: Concexec – Arquitectura, Lda.; CeNTI – Centre for Nanotechnology and Smart Materials; Kentra Technologies, Lda.; Lat40 Research, Lda., and Smartmonitoring, Lda.

In these 3 days, the partners of the EXCELIVINGProject (5 European clusters, including the Sustainable Habitat Cluster) and some of its stakeholders, met around the theme:”Enhancing the quality of life of dependent and elderly people”.

On the first day of the event, after the presentation of the project and all participating entities (partners and visiting entities), a presentation was made on the current challenges regarding in the Habitat sector caused by the aging of the population, by Professor Jos Søgaard (Southern University of Denmark) and some visitas were also carried out. The first visit took place at a new building for research and teaching, New HEALTH at the University of Odense, and the second visit involved some nursing homes with the aim of learning about the innovative solutions applied there.

 

The second day involved the participation in the international fair and congress “WHINN – week of health and innovation”, whose main themes this year were Sustainable Health, Future Health and Care, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Public-Private Innovation (PPI). In this context, a session dedicated to the EXCELIVINGproject was held, which showed different perspectives on how healthy, elderly-friendly and sustainable environments can be created. This session, at the WHINN conference, featured the intervention of Pedro Meira, CEO of Kentra Technologies, who presented the Portuguese RTD mobilization project “ACTIVAS”, of which the Cluster Habitat Sustentável was also a partner.

 

As part of this event, there was also a visit to the “Healthcare Denmark” showroom, where a presentation was made on healthcare and elderly care, in the context of the Danish system. This second day ended with a B2B and C2C networking session between all participating entities.

 

On the third and final day, a tour was held focusing on the themes of construction, digitalization and quality of life for dependent and elderly people. This tour was divided into 3 visits:: the first to “Bodilhaven”, a housing community for the elderly, the second to the Showroom of the company Gloria MundiCare, where the well-being technologies necessary to help people in their own homes are explored and, the third and final visit, to the Municipality of Haderslev, a municipality that is transforming its home care services into digital, with the Virtual Caring Homes pilot project..

 

The various activities that took place in the four ClusterXchange of the EXCELIVINGproject allowed entities from Denmark, Spain, Portugal and Romania to create and reinforce synergies at an international level, developing opportunities for innovation and business partnerships in the field of Health and Well-being in Habitat Sector.
