The building rehabilitation has been growing significantly in Portugal, presenting itself as a sector intrinsically linked to tourist, real estate and urban management phenomena in the city.
The development of these sectors that mobilize the economy should presuppose the application of technical and scientific knowledge, with strong bases in theories and international Charters to guide intervention strategies in Heritage today. However, the legislation raised great doubts about interpretation and performance in the building, either by the technicians or by the population in general. The responses to the challenges reinforce the need for interoperability between members of multidisciplinary technical teams, in a joint work that simultaneously involves architecture, engineering, conservation and restoration, archeology, history, among others, also considering the important contribution of science and the global scale of land management, a key factor in the success of an urban rehabilitation.
In this context, the Civil Engineering Department of the University of Aveiro holds a congress at the end of June that aims to be a relevant moment for the exchange of experiences and knowledge in the area of Heritage Rehabilitation, bringing together professionals from different sectors, to discuss three major general themes : Seismic Rehabilitation, Heritage Rehabilitation and the Project.
